Meet Our Family
We are a family of four- I’m Kayleigh, married to my husband Kevin. We met as teachers, and got married on a quaint farm 2.5 years ago. In July of 2022 we found out we were pregnant with twins- nothing will ever top the shock we felt in that moment! With a bang, our twin boys were born on January 25th, 2023. To say our lives have been turned upside down only explains a bite of the changes we’ve experienced.
Kevin is an 8th grade social studies teacher of 12 years. He is the teacher that students journey back to visit. Kevin is THAT teacher because he has this unbelievable ability to make all of his students feel welcome and special in his room. Meditation and mental wellness are an integral part of his classroom life, and some of the tools he uses to manage his own ADHD and mental health.
I am a certified Yoga Teacher, and special education teacher. Since the boys were born, I have been at home- focused on a totally new skillset- made up of tandem breastfeeding, nap schedules, and managing our household of 4.
In our first year of parenting we have experienced immense change- change in our roles and expectations, 24/7 demand from our babies, health changes, as well as financial changes. This loss of control has had its effects- on our mood, anxiety levels, and relationships.
Despite all of our personal experience with yoga, meditation, and maintaining emotional wellness; we have struggled this past year. This is the inspiration behind Yoga for Mamas & Papas. We’ve learned firsthand the outrageous demand placed on parents, especially new parents. There is so much magic, however there is also this overwhelming feeling of never quite doing, knowing, accomplishing “enough”. One factor that has played a major role in our ability to come out of this first year feeling stronger, is our dedication to short & sweet wellness practices.
These practices are not magic fixes, however they have been potent in grounding, releasing negative energy, and providing us the little energy shifts we need to show up as our best selves.
Thank you for allowing us to share our journey with you. We feel that the more community we build, the more support we feel and the more support we provide, the better our world will be, for ourselves and our children.
Much love,
Kayleigh & Kevin
